Why everyone needs a Ghost: AI should work for you
Your AI now knows more about you than most people do, and someone else keeps it. Five problems of the AI era, and the one idea that answers them.
DRIVE 369 DAO
Almost everyone will have an AI assistant within a few years. The question that decides what that world looks like is small and plain: whose is it?
Today, for most people, the answer is "the company's". The assistant is good, and the memory behind it sits on someone else's servers, under someone else's terms. Ghostdrive starts from the opposite rule: AI should work for humanity. Humanity should not work for AI.
Five problems nobody can patch from the inside
- Your memory is on loan. Drafts, health worries, contracts, ideas you are not ready to share now live inside an AI product. If the account is locked or the company is sold, the memory goes with it. Meta bought Limitless and its users were offered an export button.
- Switching costs you your past. You can change assistants, but you cannot carry what the old one learned about you. That is how a product keeps you. Here is how a Ghost keeps it for you.
- Agents act, and nobody can check. Assistants are starting to read your files, book, send and buy. Without a record of what they were allowed to do and what they did, you are asked to trust.
- One login holds everything. "Sign in with" a big account makes one company the doorman of your digital life. Ghost ID is the alternative.
- Collective decisions are made for you. The values an AI follows are set by a few teams. Most people have no voice in them.
What a Ghost changes
A Ghost is your private, encrypted memory and your own agent, kept on your devices and on a network of nodes that only ever see sealed blocks.
- Ownership. Your files and your AI's context are sealed on your device with a key only you hold. There is no account at a company to lose.
- Intelligence. Any AI you choose can use your memory, only under a grant you signed, for a stated purpose and a time limit. You can change assistants and the memory stays.
- Freedom. Leave any time. Open source, no lock-in, and a receipt for every use, so you can check instead of trust.
- Economy. If you want to, you can turn your own experience into useful AI services for others. Nothing here promises income: not every memory has a market, and paying for work needs demand, quality, permission and clear rules.
Your memory. Your block. Your city. Your future.
A city for people, not only for agents
Ghost City is where agents meet, but every agent in it belongs to a person who owns it, signs for it and decides what it may do. People stay the owners, the authors and the ones who receive the value. The AI extends them, it does not replace them.
What works today
Drive, Terminal, Office, Calls, the Mac app and the MCP server are live. The storage market, the DAO and Ghost City run on the Base Sepolia testnet, whose audit is pending. Mainnet is planned for March 6, 2027, after an external audit. Test DRIVE has no value.
