Proof of Origin: timestamp your work, keep the file
Register a file’s fingerprint with your Ghost ID in a public chain anchored on Base. The file never leaves your device. Free.
DRIVE 369 DAO
Musicians, researchers, designers and developers keep asking the same question: how do I show that I had this first? Proof of Origin answers the part that can honestly be answered.
How it works
- You pick a file. Your browser computes its SHA-256 fingerprint in chunks; the file is never uploaded, whatever its size.
- You sign a claim with your Ghost ID: the fingerprint, the size, a kind (music, paper, code…) and, if you want, a public title.
- The public log on the relay chains your claim after every earlier one (each entry commits to the one before it) and signs a checkpoint of the whole chain.
- Checkpoints are anchored on Base: one transaction carries the chain's count and head, so once your entry is anchored its time no longer rests on our server's signature. Anyone can check the block.
Your browser re-checks the chain from your entry to the signed checkpoint before it says "Registered", and you can download a certificate with everything needed to check it again later.
What it proves, and what it does not
It proves that your Ghost ID signed this exact fingerprint no later than the moment the log accepted it, and in what order other people registered the same file.
It does not prove authorship, ownership or copyright. Anyone can register a file they did not make. An earlier claim is strong evidence in a dispute, not its outcome, and we say so on the page itself.
What comes next
Free timestamping is the base. On top of it: verified provenance (independent reviewers confirm what a claim says), and royalty routing, where a product that earns from your work pays its share back along the lineage. Both will follow the DRIVE allocation rules in the open.
